Trained as an architect, a philosopher and an artist, I explore both the abstract and the figurative in my drawings, paintings and photographs.

Art, much like language, is a form of life1 by means of which we can delve into the world we inhabit and the world we have created for ourselves. The subject matter of art is limitless, as is its representation. It includes the physical and biological forces of nature, the abstract structures of science and mathematics, and the form and content of material culture. With an inquisitive and open mind, we can discover through art “a bigger truth undiscovered—unsaid—uncharted until you meet it” (Kimon Nicolaïdes, The Natural Way to Draw).

I graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Architecture and spent over a decade working as an architect in Hong Kong. In the late 1990s, I moved to Canada, where I pursued a Ph.D. in philosophy at Simon Fraser University and an Advanced Study Certificate in Painting at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

I am currently a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the American Philosophical Association and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
