In making these drawings, I attempt to make a physical contact with the subject through all senses: not just visual but also tactile, olfactory and even gustatory. The resulting marks are records of my sensual exploration of the subject—its surface, texture, volume, edge, etc.—features that can be revealed by the probing eye, hand and our other sensory organs.
